Vancouver Rise Academy made the most of their lone appearance at the Kamloops International Cup, securing a 2-1 win over Arsenal’s U21 Women on Wednesday evening at Hillside Stadium.
Brooklyn Boldt opened the scoring early for Rise, capitalizing on a quick attacking move to beat the Arsenal keeper. Tristan Corneil added a second later in the half, giving the local side a 2-0 advantage against the visiting English academy.
Arsenal found their footing in the second half and pulled one back through Abi Conway, marking their first goal of the Kamloops International Cup. The Gunners continued to press for an equalizer as the skies turned overcast, but Vancouver’s backline held strong to seal a memorable win.
Despite the loss, Arsenal showed flashes of quality and will look to bounce back in their final match of the trip on Saturday against Kamloops United FC.
